I Spy Eyefly

Ever since I was a youngin’, I always wanted to wear glasses. I thought they were so cool because my favorite Power Ranger (the blue ranger) wore them. I always wanted to be that nerd. Of course, during the teenage years, I abandoned that thought.

Well, the notion is back! I am enjoying wearing glasses–especially Eyefly glasses. Thanks to them, I have these lovely two pairs of frames–Blackburn Cove & Shibuya. I really love these frames because they are trendy and unique. I love the tortoise on the Blackburn Cove frames–it’s a nice retro homage. But I also love the grey matte on Shibuya because it’s extremely modern, chic and unique (because of the grey matte).

I decided to let loose in my photos since I am always super serious. For those who always ask me to smile…well, I think these quirky photos will do.

Pattern Mixology

I’ve always been super afraid of mixing plaid, patterns, etc., but I’m putting down my walls and letting more than one pattern into my look–sometimes. I’m just letting it happen and no one can stop me.

Ok, maybe I can’t mix crazy patterns and make them more apparent. I think subtly putting the patterns in the look works a lot better (for me anyway). The patterns on the socks, the shirt under the sweater and the scarf are small enough to not take over the look but keep it fun and intriguing.

Living in Greyscale

As usual, I’m sporting my color scheme–black, grey, white & some shade of blue. My full look is not completely in grey scale, but you get the idea–I love grey.

I wore this look to the Coach & Details launch of the Hugo Guinness x Coach collaboration. That same day, I picked up the new GQ and thumbed through the pages. In the style section, it endorsed wearing a patterned shirt with a patterned tie. I look down to see that I am doing exactly what they recommend! I wore a herringbone shirt with a polka dotted tie.

I was never a fan of mixing prints because I thought it was a little much, but as I always mention, I’m trying to break out of my normal style and integrate new ways to add a little more to change it up.

My new pair of glasses come courtesy of Eyefly! It’s from their new line. The previous line focused more on the classics but now, the new line gives a little punch of flavor and color in the frames. I’m obsessed with these matte grey frames. But, I’ll wait until the full post about my love to divulge further! Stay tuned!

Hugo Guinness x Coach

This week, Coach launched the Hugo Guinness x Coach collection. Monday night, Coach took us back to the 1920s with a roaring party set at the Jane Hotel. You could play blackjack or roulette to win play money. Luckily, I won enough to snag the NYC coffee cup reversible tote. It is easily my go to bag for spring.

Last night, Coach and Details also had a party for the new collaboration collection with British artist, Hugo Guinness. I keep talking about the artist thinking you know who he is. Well, Hugo is known for black-and-white linocut prints out of the ordinary objects, animals and people. And as you could have guessed, you can spot these fun and whimsical prints on a variety of leather totes, wallets, cases for sunglasses and much more. Among the prints, you will find handcuffs, a New York City coffee cup, a boxer, sunglasses and a key show up in the collection!

I’m really loving the collection! I’m already obsessed with my tote and I’ve only had it for two days. #breakingitin

Collegiate Repp-in’

I saw this yellow and navy tie that I haven’t worn in years. I’m not a huge fan of yellow, but I can deal with it because it was paired with navy. Since the tie is repp striped and it’s synonymous with collegiate men from the past, I decided to pull together a look with flare of 1950s collegiate men.

Since this fall, varsity cardigans are on trend and these cardigans scream old school prep, it was the perfect way to tie in the look I was going for.

Of course, I couldn’t put together a look without wearing skinny jeans and boots. I’m obsessed with that combo. I guess the ground was wet from the rain so boots were appropriate.

Street Walker

Despite that I wish I was a street walker (joking), I am clearly the opposite in this look. I’m too buttoned up!

This is a pretty basic menswear look but the details make it stand out–checkered plaid, denim tie and extremely fitted. I love my tight-fitting clothing. I work hard on my body, I’ve got to show it off!

There’s just something about a v-neck sweater, button down shirt and tie that just screams classic style. There’s nothing special here except the specific details caters to my age and doesn’t make it seem like I am dressing like an old man.

As you can tell, this post is delayed because there is no snow on the ground. I actually forgot I took these photos…#fail.

This look is from a Sunday brunch with a few friends (the Queen of the Gays, @jennaglynn was the amongst those who attended).

We had a delicious brunch at Primehouse. Since it was a cute, quaint place, I wanted to make sure I resemble the atmosphere. So, I added the tie, mixed in some plaid and ended with a heather cardigan. I actually like the look and would not mind recreating it with different colors. (Maybe green instead of purple.)

I ate the most delicious egg benedict I have ever had…because it was crab cakes benedict. Yeah, it’s fine that you are drooling too.

Milan Men’s Fashion Week F/W 2012: Gucci

Gucci’s F/W 2012 collection is a little much. Full of velvet, funky patterned material and a lot of fur. Not a huge fan. But I did like the two looks below. Most because of the colors ad the grey pants. Clearly I love grey pants. I need to take a step back from them.

Love those sunglasses. I usually like a silver metal, but the gold looks pretty cool.

The teal turtleneck is interesting. I don’t like turtlenecks but I would posses one with that color teal. So haute.

And a new variation of the grey pants I am loving–plaid! I need to add many pairs of grey pants, ASAP.
