Bringing it Back–Don’t Be Jelly
So lately I have been feeling pretty “retro” with my music choices. Why not write about the 5 albums that defined my preteens? You know you love it and you can’t deny you sing karaoke to all these songs with a giant smile. I also sing karaoke to Miley’s “See You Again” and I am not sorry about it.
Here’s what would have been on my iPod during the ages of 9-12:
Backstreet Boys – “Backstreet Boys”
I was always an *NSYNC fan but BSB still holds a place in my heart…well their first album. So quit playing games with my heart and start loving again.
Britney Spears – “Oops…I Did it Again”
Despite “Baby One More Time” igniting the fire that still burns (extremely) strong, I love love love “Oops…I Did it Again.” That song is still one of my favs out of every Britney album. Watch me break it down with the choreo…with absolutely no shame.
I would legit listen to this album everyday. “Waiting for tonight” + “Let’s Get Loud” = the beginning of my booty popping. If only the preteen me could see me now!
Did I listen to “Bye, Bye, Bye” on repeat? Yes. Did I secretly have a crush on Justin Timberlake? Yes. Do I listen to “Just Got Paid” when I still get paid and dance to it? Yes. You mad?
You cannot forget the Spice Girls. They are the staple in anyone from the 90s’ music diet. I would make up (karate inspired) dances to every song on the album–my favorite being “Spice Up Your Life.” Just slam it to the left if you are having a good time.
